White bread (crusty, no-knead)

From recipetineats cookbook Dinner. Yields a springy bread with a nice crust, doesn’t require any kneading. Should try w/o bread flour.

Ingredients

  • Bread flour 450 grams
  • Bread flour 2 tbsp (for dusting)
  • Dry yeast 2 tsp
  • Salt 2 tsp
  • Water 375 ml (very warm)

Steps

  1. Mix flour, yeast and salt. Add water and stir with handle of a wooden spoon.
  2. Cover and rise until doubled (2-3 hours).
  3. Preheat oven to 230 degrees.
  4. Boil a kettle and fill a 20cm cake tin with boiling water, place in oven on bottom shelf.
  5. Turn dough onto work surface, sprinkle with extra flour and fold sides in with spatula. Place upside down on baking tray and make roughly round.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes until deep golden, cool on rack.
