Mum's Carbonara

It bears mentioning that this isn’t carbonara. It is still very yummy.

Ingredients

  • Fettuccine pasta 500 grams
  • Brown onions 2 whole
  • Peas (frozen) 1 cup
  • Bacon 250 grams
  • Mushrooms 200 grams
  • Garlic 3 cloves
  • Thickened cream 300 ml
  • Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp
  • Soy sauce a dash
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Steps

  1. Salt and boil water, cook pasta for 12 minutes and drain. Place back in pot.
  2. Dice onion (1cm), bacon (1cm). Slice garlic (thinly). Slice mushroom (5mm).
  3. Add bacon, fry 3 min. mushroom then garlic in succession, adding a new item once the previous has browned a little.
  4. Add mushroom, fry 2 min.
  5. Add garlic, fry 10 sec.
  6. Stir in cream, worcestershire, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Fry for 4 min.
  7. Throw in peas and mix. Simmer for 4 min.
  8. Add to pasta, mix and serve.
