Archives

internet archive
unbelievable amount of old media. if it’s aged out of copyright this site probably has it. you can stream whole old movies. here's a full day of radio broadcast from 1939. their search isn't great, if i want something on there i type it into google and then add ‘internet archive’
wayback machine
lets you see old versions of websites. not even like retro like if you go to read an article and the link is broken because they moved it you can try here and see what used to be there. for big sites they have lots of snapshots. operated by internet archive.
anna's archive
download books. incl textbooks. pulls together a few of the other ones like scihub and libgen
vimm’s lair
easily the least practical in this section but a huge and really thoughtfully archived collection of old videogames and emulators. e.g. i can play every atari game on my laptop because of this site + retroarch. i don't but i can.
who sampled
maybe not an archive but give this site a song and it will tell you who samples it, who it sampled, what its a cover of and who has covered it.

Web How To

interneting is hard
this is where i learnt to code html (content) and css (appearance). thats all you need to make a little website. this tutorial looks really corporate but its free and actually just one guy who loves it. i got it from tumblr.
mozilla developer network
the people who made firefox. the above is good for learning html and css. but then after that, mdn is a really great reference guide. for any html element or css rule i get stuck on i just type its name and 'mdn' into google and their page comes up.
mdn js tutorial
this is where i learnt javascript which you dont need but lets you do interactive things like updating the moon phase on my homepage.
